Terms Of Use
Academic Appliance Repair Service Terms and Conditions
Welcome to Academic Appliance Repair Service. The following Terms and Conditions of Service apply to all repair work, including parts provided and any associated service. These terms of service constitute a legally binding agreement between the customer (“you”) and Academic Appliance Repair Service (“we,” “our,” or “us”).
By scheduling a service call, allowing our technician to commence service, or otherwise using our services, you agree to these terms in full. Please read these terms carefully and familiarize yourself with these terms before work begins. Your continued use of our services signifies your acceptance of all terms outlined below.
Agreement to Terms
The terms and conditions of service apply to all customers who hire Academic Appliance Repair Service to perform appliance repair, maintenance, or related services. This includes but is not limited to refrigerator repair, dryer repair, dishwasher repair, and other major appliance services.
Allowing our technician to commence service implies full agreement with these terms, including payment requirements, warranty conditions, and liability limits. Customers acknowledge their responsibility to review these terms periodically, as we may update these terms and conditions from time to time.
Non-Refundable Service Charge
We charge a non-refundable service call fee for all appointments not covered by warranty. This service charge covers the time of service, travel, and diagnostic evaluation by a trained appliance repair technician.
By accepting the service order, the customer agrees to:
- Pay the service charge in full, even if no repair is performed
- Understand that the service call fee will be applied to the total repair cost if the recommended repair is approved
- Be responsible for any additional fees associated with extended diagnostics or special part orders
Payment Terms and Completion of Service
Payment is due upon completion of services rendered unless otherwise agreed in writing. We accept major credit/debit cards, cash, and checks. The customer will be charged a $50 processing fee if a check is returned.
Repair costs must be paid in full at the time of the visit. We reserve the right to withhold warranty coverage or suspend further service if invoices are unpaid.
Customers agree to pay all charges listed on their final invoice upon completion of the repair.
Limited Warranty
Our goal at Academic Appliance Repair Service is to do the job right and to stand behind our work. That’s why we offer a 90-day limited warranty on all appliance repair services and the parts we supply and install.
This means that if something goes wrong related to the original repair or part within 90 days, and our inspection confirms the issue is due to a workmanship error or a defective part, we’ll return to repair or replace the affected part at no additional cost to you.
With this warranty, you can rest assured that we are dedicated to ensuring that your appliance runs smoothly and that it stays that way.
What’s Covered:
- Labor and workmanship directly performed by Academic Appliance Repair Service
- Parts installed by our technicians, as listed on the service order or invoice
- Follow-up repairs for the same issue if caused by part failure or incorrect installation
What’s Not Covered / When the Warranty Is Voided:
Our warranty is designed to protect you from issues related to the original service, but certain conditions will void this coverage. Your repair warranty is void if:
- The appliance is moved from the original repair location. Moving appliances can impact connections, wiring, and parts, which may interfere with the effectiveness of the repair.
- The customer attempts to repair the appliance themselves or hires a third-party, unauthorized service provider to work on it after completing our service. This can make it difficult to verify the source of the problem and compromise the integrity of the original repair.
- The issue is unrelated to the original service or diagnosis. For example, if we repaired a refrigerator’s cooling system and the dispenser motor fails weeks later, this would not be covered under the same warranty unless it was clearly tied to our original service.
When the Warranty Period Begins
The 90-day warranty period starts from:
- The date the repair was completed and the appliance was returned to service, or
- The date the part was installed, in cases where a new part was provided as part of the repair
Customer Responsibilities
- The customer is responsible for providing safe access to the appliance
- You must disclose known issues, including leaks, electrical problems, or water damage
- If a technician is required to move the appliance, the customer assumes all risk for potential damages resulting from that movement
These responsibilities are part of the conditions of service and help ensure a smooth and safe repair experience.
Limitations of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Academic Appliance Repair Service is not liable for any incidental, indirect, or consequential damages, including but not limited to property damage, loss of food, revenue loss, or inconvenience.
Our liability is limited strictly to the amount paid for the repair service. This limitation of liability does not apply to claims involving personal injury caused by our negligence.
Entire Agreement
These terms and conditions, combined with your invoice or service order, constitute the entire agreement between you and Academic Appliance Repair Service. They supersede all prior verbal or written agreements.
Any changes to these terms must be agreed to in writing. Your use of our services and your signature on the service call invoice or approval form confirm your agreement to the terms.
Governing Law
This agreement shall be governed by and interpreted under the laws of the State of Florida. Any disputes will be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the laws of the state and applicable commercial arbitration rules.
Changes to Terms and Conditions
We reserve the right to modify or update these terms at any time. Changes will be posted on our website, and we encourage you to review these terms periodically to stay informed.
Your continued use of our services after changes are made signifies your acceptance of the revised terms.
DAMAGE WAIVERS
It is the responsibility of the customer to review these waivers. Our pricing is based on the acceptance of the following waivers. By requesting service, you are accepting these conditions. If any part of these waivers is deemed unenforceable, the remaining waivers will remain valid.
Waiver of Damages When Moving Appliance
You understand that moving large appliances risks damage the appliance and surrounding property (e.g., floors, cabinetry, and countertops). While our technician is not required to move the appliance, if you request this, you agree to hold harmless both the technician and Academic Appliance Repair Service from any liability associated with such movement.
Waiver of Damages When Working with Water
You acknowledge that water-related appliances (dishwashers or washing machines) are connected to your home’s plumbing. There’s a risk of leaks or flooding due to component failure, worn hoses, or installation limitations. Unless due to gross negligence, you agree to hold Academic Appliance Repair Service, its technicians, and staff for any damages resulting from water issues.
Waiver of Damages from Failed Cooling Equipment
You understand that servicing cooling equipment (e.g., refrigerators, freezers) involves complex components that can fail unexpectedly, even after repairs. Issues like food spoilage, inconvenience, or loss of commercial income are acknowledged risks. By requesting service, you agree that Academic Appliance Repair Service is not responsible for these outcomes, and you waive the right to make any such claim.
Waiver of Damages from Lifting Glass Cooktops
You acknowledge the risks of lifting glass or ceramic cooktops, which are often bonded with strong adhesives. Even with great care, the cooktop may crack or shatter. By asking the technician to proceed, you accept the risk and waive all liability from Academic Appliance Repair Service and its technicians for any breakage.
If you have any questions about our terms and conditions, warranty coverage, or any of the waivers listed above, please contact us through our website or call us at 305-335-3501.
We’re here to help and believe in providing clarity and confidence in every step of your appliance repair experience.
